Nothing left to lose

Your goal of giving to others
Must now take second place
To your need for a sound future,
And your search for a little space.

To live, to work for money;
To support yourself alone;
To improve your chances in life,
And forget what you have known.

Your existence before was miserable -
Now it’s up to you to start
To aim for some improvement,
And find courage in your heart.

Your life goes on regardless,
Many paths from which to choose –
Have strength; be bold, for no matter what,
You have nothing left to lose.

I am Sun

Aha!  She’s got a chair out and moved her book outside.
I’ll wait for her to get comfy, and then find a place to hide.
Just pop behind these dark clouds and wait ‘til she puts on a shirt,
Perhaps a few sprinkles of rain now?  Oh it’s fun being a flirt!

Wait, she looks cross and anxious, but not running for cover just yet.
I’ll peep out and get a glimpse of her – oh dear, she looks rather wet.
Now stretch my rays out to dry her, and she’ll worship me just like a queen
Her face upturned to soak up my warmth (sometimes I feel rather mean).

My, she looks daft in those glasses!  They’re named after me, you know.
I am so very famous and powerful; it’s tempting to put on a show.
How tiresome when everyone loves you; how boring to constantly shine -
Hide-and-seek games are much more fun!  No one brings me into line.

Just for me

I am sitting outside
With the sun smiling
Everyday noises around me
Feeling as if in a dream

The cat sits black beside me
Grass is green and coloured flowers
Are dancing in the breeze,
Just for me

Oh to keep this moment of value
Treasured in my memory
To recall when the sun is away
And dark clouds return

Glimpse of Summer

A carpet of green grass,
Clearly lined where mowers whirred;
Light breezes wafting sweet scents
Of Honeysuckle, Philadelphus, Azalea.

Snatches of time feeling kissed by the sun
Whose rays caress my face.
The landscape bright and light,
Whilst silvered trees whisper.

Green new shoots sprout;
Rosebuds peep colour
Daisies lift their heads
As bees buzz, lazily drifting.

Tuneful birds floating in the blue
Celestial cloudless sky.
Sparkling waters shimmer,
Forming Nature’s mirror.

The sounds and smells of a summer day
When distant traffic seems to slow
Grey days lost from memory
Encore!  Encore!  Please, more!
